Do you want to know a secret about me? I'm a total penny pincher. It stems from the early days of my marriage, when we were so poor we literally had zero furniture---we slept on an air mattress and sleeping bags, you guys!---but we were so rich in love it seemed like a good trade. Luckily now we have enough to make ends meet, but I still get a little thrill standing in the grocery aisle when I can get a good product for a great deal.
One of my cheapskate confessions? I like our little doggy for lots of reasons, but seriously? The fact that a twenty pound bag of dog food will last nearly six months makes me love her all the more! And when you're only buying dog food twice a year, you can wait till the huge sacks go on clearance and feel like a total boss for spending twelve dollars to feed your dog all year.
At least, that's what I used to do. Enter Nature's Recipe Dog Food. I received a coupon for a free package of the food and thought just for fun, I'd open it and see what the fuss was all about. My dog LOVES it. She's a miniature dachshund, and like many small breeds of dog, she likes to take one or two little pieces of dog food away from her bowl and eat it somewhere else. The first time I put the Nature's Recipe food in her bowl, she DIDN'T LEAVE THE BOWL. That is crazy! I've never seen her like her food so much! In the week or so since I've been giving her this new food, her coat is glossier and she seems more alert, which is odd since the kids have gone back to school and she tends to sleep more when there's fewer people here during the day.
Since seeing how much better she feels, I totally feel good about spending a few extra dollars to get her the food she likes so much!
